Role Overview:
With a constantly growing demand for information from regulatory and reimbursement agencies, Real Word Evidence (RWE) has become a critical component in drug development and commercialization.  The Middle East and Africa (MEA) Region at Amgen is building RWE capabilities to partner with internal and external partners across product life cycles.  Specifically, the vision is to be able to characterize the frequency and distribution of disease, clinical burden of disease, natural history or clinical course of disease, treatment patterns, healthcare resource utilization and costs and the safety and effectiveness of interventions.
Reporting to the Director, Value, Access and Policy, MEA, this individual will be a highly valuable team player driving strategies to maximize patient access to Amgen products in MEA.  Specifically, we are seeking an individual with expertise in designing and executing Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), to support pricing, market access and regulatory needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in the acquisition, planning and management of research projects across a wide range of methodological and therapeutic areas.
Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with cross-functional teams, lead the development of research questions, study protocols and statistical analysis plans for HEOR and relevant real-world evidence generation activities;
  • Execute and manage descriptive observational studies to characterize patients, treatment patterns, healthcare utilization, and costs;
  • Contribute to systematic and targeted reviews of the clinical and economic literature;
  • Execute and manage research projects involving the analysis of multiple types of data including administrative claims, electronic health records (EHR), and registries;
  • Independently manage multiple projects, study vendors, budget, and deliverables, meeting timelines;
  • Build and facilitate Amgen research collaboration with local and regional key opinion leaders and societies;
  • Develop and prepare abstracts, manuscripts and/or presentations to conferences for internal and external projects; and
  • Staying current on the latest developments in the field of HEOR and observational research.
Qualifications and Required Experience:
  • Master’s degree (& 3 years of experience) or bachelor’s degree (& 5 years of experience) in epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, or related fields;
  • Execute and manage HEOR projects involving the analysis of multiple types of data including administrative claims, EHRs, and registries to support market access and other aspects of drug development;
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, reimbursement, and data availability and access in MEA;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate scientific evidence to peers and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with intricate planning and strong tactical execution within a matrix, cross-functional environment; and
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
