Therapeutic Area Lead GD and Immunology, Algeria - Takeda

Job Purpose
Medical Affairs role to provide state-of-the-art medical and clinical development expertise to drive TAKEDA message delivery to key influencers and stakeholders.

Provide input and ensure alignment between global project strategy and local needs to drive Medical Affairs for a brand in the local business franchise.

Major activities
  • Contribute strategic, medical, clinical and scientific guidance to all allied departments, including support the local ISSRs team for timely execution.
Collaboration
  • Ensure optimal collaboration with LOC, Regional, and Global Medical Teams in the execution of relevant Medical & clinical activities. Cords, identifying variances and reporting on the same.
Safety
  • Ensure proper adverse event reporting.
Investigators
  • In collaboration with Clinical Operations (CRO), recommend potential investigators for local and global studies, ensuring the right mix of KOLs.
Medical Affairs
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and implement strategy.
Customers
  • Take ownership for meeting customers' needs and expectations for assigned Brand(s), for delivery of TAKEDA medical messages to key influencers and stakeholders for internal and external customers.
Field Based role
  • 30% field based and 50% for Hybrid role (M/S Advisor with MSL role).
  • Ensure market preparation pre- and post-launch.
Materials
  • Review promotional and training material tailored to the needs of the product and according to local regulations.
KOLs
  • Ensure development of network with external experts disseminate approved clinical data proactively and reinforce clinical awareness with KOLs, influencers and key external customers, as well as reactive responding to HCPs inquiries for the TA/ Brand clinical data. A clear identified KOLs short list for communication is logic and a mandatory requirement.
Reporting
  • Ensure monthly reporting for all the activities and insights to the Head of Medical Gulf & Lebanon.
Image
  • Promote and maintain ethical standards of TAKEDA Medical Advisors to contribute proactively to a credible image for TAKEDA in the local Health Care and Medical community.
Compulsory
  • Medical / Scientific Advisor shall be accountable to perform all duties listed in Role Profile in accordance with applicable principles, and internal/external regulations (e.g. TAKEDA Code of Conduct for Ethical Practices, Health and all other relevant global & local regulations).
Major Challenges

  • Major new launches, entering new therapeutic areas, are happening with the need to build capabilities either through internal training and development or through recruitment
  • Strong cross functional coordination required because of the fast pace environment
  • Processes require a significant development
  • Little knowledge in various countries about medical affairs and PV
  • Major workforce expansion will require massive training needs particularly in relation to new launches which will require intensive work from medical affairs
  • Expansion in geographies where market information is very limited requires high level of in house intelligence and creativity to build strategies.
  • For new launches approaching Takeda in the next 2 years, It will be necessary to have relevant number of medical activities to lead the pre-launches phase and support the launches
Key Decisions Expected
  • Manage relationship with KOL’s, advisory board members and other external stakeholders
  • Day to day operational decisions
Skills & knowledge
Educational Qualifications

  • Language- Fluent Oral and Written English.
  • Relevant Experience & knowledge

  • 2-3 years of experience in the same position.
  • Good planning skills as well as medical and scientific writing skills.
  • Knowledge of assigned therapeutic area and scientific expertise with ability to interact with relevant KOLs as a peer.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of drug development, GCP and local regulations, including regulations of Promotional materials. Familiar with global regulations.
  • Ability to analyses and interpret results, ability to present scientific data to scientific and lay audiences.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design statistics and pharmacokinetics.
  • Understanding of marketing principles and strategies.
