About the Opportunity
To strengthen our Corporate Public Affairs Europe team, we are looking for a senior Public Affairs professional to be based in Brussels.The main objective for this role is to define the strategy and drive Sanofi’s agenda on healthcare digital transformation & pharma regulations (incl. pharma, vaccines, orphan medicines and devices) both at EU institutions level and in European countries, in alignment with the global Business Units (BUs) and market priorities.. As Corporate Public Affairs Lead, you will be responsible for securing Sanofi’s presence and leadership with the European Institutions, European Member States network and the main European trade associations (EFPIA and EuropaBio); and work closely with European countries.This is a great opportunity to join a market leader and help shape our policies within and our responses to the challenging and changing healthcare environment of today.About Sanofi Corporate Public Affairs
The Corporate Public Affairs department works on creating the right external policy conditions to help drive Sanofi’s strategy including both shaping EU legislation and also cross-country issues that require a coherent approach across Business Units (BUs). This department works closely with the global corporate affairs team (PA and Comms), the country PA network, global functions (e.g. regulatory affairs) in alignment with regional business and Global Business Units (BUs) PA.Key responsibilities
- Secure Sanofi’s presence and leadership with the European Institutions, European Member States network and the main European trade associations (EFPIA and EuropaBio)
- Be/become ‘subject-matter-expert’ internally and externally for specific areas of priorities for Sanofi in relation to EU healthcare digital transformation & pharma regulations (incl. pharma, vaccines, orphan medicines and devices)
- Map, build and manage close relationships and partnerships with the most critical stakeholders to develop and execute European Public Affairs (PA) tactical plans
- Prioritize and develop focused plans on specific areas of priorities for Sanofi with these key external stakeholders by understanding their objectives/priorities, key initiatives, health and policy positions, strengths and sources of leverage, capacity building needs, and opportunity areas for collaboration
- Ensure and drive consistent advocacy plan with PA stakeholders/EU institutions with compliance, transparency, and best practice stakeholder management principles. Enhance our company reputation and represent One Sanofi to our partners
- Adapt and translate strategies based on market realities and priorities, to define high priority regional tactics and PA campaigns for specific areas of priorities for Sanofi that impact the environment and seize opportunities for success
- Support with the analysis of European market PA trends, issues, and environmental factors to anticipate opportunities and risks of importance to Sanofi business results
- Develop plans and take appropriate actions and provide feedback to the Global PA Business Partner on those areas that need to be considered by the global PA strategy
About You
To excel in this role you will need to have:Essential requirements:- Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum 10 to 15 years’ experience needed in public affairs and/or advocacy roles, including experience in market-shaping strategies, advocacy campaigns, or significant responsibilities in a pharma/healthcare public affairs role in Europe (Brussels)
- Fluency in English, both written and oral, is essential
- Experience managing people transversally and leading cross-functional teams
- Ability to impact in a proactive, objective and diplomatic manner
- Ability to lead projects and initiatives and execute successfully in a complex environment, working with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Proven track record successfully executing complex projects and initiatives, on time, within budget, with measurement of results
- Good understanding of stakeholder engagement techniques, policy-making processes and stakeholders, pharmaceutical and healthcare business, country-specific PA community and healthcare landscape
- Ability to develop successful partnerships with non-governmental stakeholders
- Ability to drive internal alignment on projects / initiatives with country PA and with Global PA GBU though effective interpersonal relations and networking
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to be a good team player and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders from different functions
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally (written and oral skills)
Preferred requirements:- Post-graduate degree in policy/public health or health care related field /Doctorate degree (e.g., M.D., PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) will be a plus
- Regulatory policy background is a plus
