R&D Associate Principle Scientist - PepsiCo

Job Description

Main Purpose:

Responsible for leading Product Development / R&D Manager, Business interface for product development, Brand stewardship and Productivity for Egypt Region.

Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for lift and shift / Lift and adopt / Create product proposals for Egypt consumers.
  • Develop technical capability for beverages production in Egypt and MENA countries.
  • Support business by providing technical know how for New product Development.
  • Support business objectives driving Agenda for the region for the New Product development for beverage platform in accordance with AMESA AOP plans.
  • Design, execute experiments and analyze and interpret data to make sound technical recommendations on product and process issues.
  • Execute new product innovation scale-up trials at pilot and manufacturing plants to ensure product compliance to design.
  • Support completion of development and commercialization success criteria in execution of project work through use of accepted documentation and work processes.
  • Develop complete product attribute specifications for new products using established documentation processes.
  • Leverage a variety of key vendors and suppliers for ideas, insights, and development.
  • Develop effective working relationships to gain matrix resources to support group's initiatives.
  • Maintain a network of contacts with PepsiCo R&D teams across the globe to leverage knowledge and execute work.
  • Partner with Global R&D functions such as Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Nutrition, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure robust product design.Proactively identifying skill and capability gaps in the project team and R&D.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Masters / Phd in Food technology or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in process, product development , QC/QA experience in Beverages Plants.
  • Experience and track record of working with and improving Technical Stage / Gate process to execute complex technical projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with formal training preferred in TQM & SPC with successful commercial application in low acid beverage technology design.
  • Innovative, analytical & forward critical thinking.
  • Formal training in Beverage process design & related professional experience plus; GMP, HACCP etc Better Process Control School or similar.
  • Managing Cross cultural communications and effectively use it in project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing consumer-winning beverage formulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in stressful, fast-paced situations, with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers.
  • Strong understanding of linking research to business opportunity.
  • Highly effective organization, negotiation, coordination, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to deal with uncertainty and complexity.
